Moving Companies FAQ - Working with Graebel's Moving Service

MOVING FAQs - Answers to frequently asked moving questions, courtesy of movemyhouse.com

How soon can I schedule my home move?

After your in-home survey, your Sales Person and Customer Service Coordinator will be able to schedule your move dates. If your move is long distance, Graebel will give you a “range” of possible days for delivery, taking into account issues such as traffic and bad weather. But don’t worry—we won’t arrive on your doorstep unannounced. Your Coordinator will stay in contact with you throughout your move to keep you up-to-date on what is going on.

Can you move my plants?

Maybe — but this is up to your driver and there are restrictions; in some cases plants cannot be loaded onto the moving truck. See Moving Tips for more information.

What if I need to move my car?

Graebel can help! Whenever possible, we will ship your car right in the moving van with the rest of your belongings. From time-to-time, we may employ a company that specializes in auto transportation. Rest assured, we use only pre-qualified companies that meet strict standards.

How do I take care of my appliances?

You should contact a local retailer to service your appliances before your move. If you prefer, Graebel can arrange for an appliance servicing company to disconnect and prepare your appliances on the last day of packing. Remember that your refrigerator and freezer must be cleaned and left to air-dry prior to loading day. See Moving Tips for more information.

When will the moving crews arrive?

Graebel standards state that crews should be at your home, in uniform and ready to load the moving truck, by 9 a.m.

How do you hire people for my move?

Graebel employees and independent contractors are drug-tested and undergo thorough background-checks for your piece of mind. In addition, they complete courses through Graebel University to ensure they are well prepared to safeguard your belongings.

Do I need to be present during the actual move?

Yes. It is important that you are available to answer questions while the crew is loading the moving truck. Also, your Driver will need your signature on the inventory sheet after loading and after delivery at the end of your home move. Your Sales Person will give you a comprehensive PreMove Kit with more information about your responsibilities during the move.

When will my stuff arrive?

Your Coordinator will work with you to determine a mutually agreeable delivery spread, or window of delivery days, based on the weight of your shipment and the distance it must travel. But we won’t show up at your home without warning. Your Coordinator will keep you informed of status, and your Graebel Driver will call you 24 hours before delivery.
